Grimm Season 2 Finale “Goodnight, Sweet Grimm”

Poor Nick. I had a feeling he’d be the one in the most danger at the end of the Grimm season two finale. And he was.

But before we get to the cliff-hanger, let’s talk about the entire episode, the highly entertaining “Goodnight, Sweet Grimm.” I felt like the hour zoomed by as Nick and the cops had to deal with the victims of Baron Samedi aka the “Cracher-Mortel.”

Premature Infatuation: FOX’s Almost Human

ALMOSTHUMAN.final.group_5

Here’s another show that’s piqued my interest big time. I hate that I’m going to have to wait until late fall for it to touch down on TV. However, something tells me it’ll be worth the wait.

ShowAlmost Human
Network: FOX
The Concept: Almost Human is a high-tech, high-stakes action drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. An unlikely partnership is forged when a part-machine cop is forced to pair with a part-human robot as they fight crime and investigate a deeper cover-up in a futuristic new world.

Why am I going to watch? Aside from the sci-fi angle and the sort of Fringe-esque vibe I got from the trailer, I can name three reasons:

Where We Left Off:

  • Will charmed his way into an audition and impressed both Rayna and Bucky. It looks like he’s going to be the second act signed to Rayna’s new label.
  • Scarlett had a wonderful debut at the Grand Ole Opry, but Gunnar was in jail. Avery showed up to support her though.
  • Lamar showed some fighting spirit and demonstrated that he’s still in charge at work.
  • Rayna asked Teddy to keeping trusting that she wouldn’t harm Teddy’s relationship with Maddie.
  • Before she overdosed Jolene killed Dante to help Juliette keep her private life private.
  • Maddy found some papers and confessed to a friend that she doesn’t think her dad is her father.

Rectify “Jacob’s Ladder”

I’ve always loved Daniel’s friendship with Johnny Ray Gill’s Kerwin. It has somehow been reassuring to know that Daniel had at least one true friend during part of his time on Death Row. With the cherry-bomb incident at the beginning of the episode, I think we all knew something horrible was coming. Watching those masked man beat Daniel at Hanna’s grave was pretty awful, but for me the most affecting scene in “Jacob’s Ladder” was having to watch Daniel say goodbye to his friend.

EXCLUSIVE TV Goodness Q&A: Aden Young Discusses Sundance Channel’s Rectify [INTERVIEW]

image

I like to sing Rectify’s praises often, because it’s such an intriguing show. After Daniel Holden is released from Death Row after nearly 20 years, he’s having a hard time adjusting to the outside world. He’s missed out on so much, but (most of) his family is trying to ease that transition. He doesn’t react to things like most other people and he’s not sure where he fits in. But the thing I love most about this show is that we don’t know whether or not Daniel committed this crime.

TV Goodness spoke exclusively to Aden Young about how he became involved in the show, his favorite moments from season 1, and what to expect in season 2.

I’m not sure what’s up with the ABC promo team, but they’re touting Thursday as the premiere of Motive, when it’s actually soft launching tonight in Castle’s timeslot. The Canadian series, which has already been renewed for a second season, just wrapped its first season last week.

Premature Infatuation: CBS’ Intelligence

CBS Upfront 2013

ShowIntelligence
Network: CBS
The Concept: Focuses on U.S. Cyber Command and focuses on a unit that has been created around one agent with a very special gift — a microchip has been implanted in his brain that allows him to access the entire electromagnetic spectrum.

First of all, let me just say, that I’m not completely sold on the concept. It’s something I’m going to have to see before I decide if I believe. It sounds a little like a super drama-fied version of Chuck meets Syfy’s Alphas (well, the Gary character anyway). But guess what? I watched and adored both those shows. If you watch the three-minute preview, they say it’s a Six Million Dollar Man for today’s world. That’s a sure way to get me to watch Intelligence. But they’re just preaching to the choir. Because there’s already one big reason why I am jones-ing for this show to start sooner rather than later:

Merlin “The Drawing of the Dark”

There had to be a trigger to make Mordred turn against Arthur.  In this week’s Merlin, we meet Kara, the woman who Mordred is in love with but who also has a serious grudge against the house of Pendragon.  She is the person who will drive a wedge between the hearts of the king and his knight, setting the stage for the final confrontation between the two.
