TV Goodness Reports: Scandal Special Event @ The TV Academy

[WARNING: Major spoilers for Scandal season two finale]

Sometimes you get to do fun things when you work in television.  On Thursday night, I had the great fortune of going to one of the best industry events I have ever been to.  The cast of ABC’s Scandal, led by Kerry Washington, did a live table read of the season finale, “White Hat’s Back On.”  I had mixed emotions but I am so glad that I got to see it.  If you did not watch the episode yet, stop reading and go watch it!  Yes, you!  Okay now that you watched it, let’s discuss.

You know how you are watching a TV show that is so good you don’t want it to end?  You think that the show is almost over but you look at the clock and there is more time left?  That’s how I felt while watching Revenge.  There were more than a few things dropped so if you have not watched the finale yet, you might want to stop reading and go watch it now.  There are just too many things to discuss.

There are so many things to say about this episode; Emily goes back to basics, Nolan hands over his secret program, Carrion, to Padma so her father doesn’t die; the Graysons are trying to get rid of the initiative; Aidan is trying to get back in with Daniel at Grayson Global, etc. etc.

Reality Fix: Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars [Week 4]

[Warning: Spoilers for Week 4 including who was eliminated]

Anytime you have Paula Abdul as a judge, you know it will be a good time (at least a little wackier).  Yes, the former American Idol/X Factor star appeared as a special guest judge. And she is here on a week where there were dances being done that have never been done on Dancing with the Stars. Clearly making some of the professional dancers nervous, this was a week of challenge for all. Just a reminder of which dances the couples did this week and my observations about them:

Another season of Dancing with the Stars is wrapped. Do you know what was so great about this season? It was the first time there were a lot of people that were really good. It was definitely a fair and equal competition. Don’t you agree?

TV Goodness Q&A: Peta Murgatroyd, Dancing with the Stars

One of the best things about working in television is sometimes getting to interview the people you watch on the shows you love. I recently got to speak with Peta Murgatroyd, one the pros from ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Like all the dancers on the show, she is a World Champion. She is one of the newer dancers and I feel like we are just starting to know her. Last season, she was paired with NBA star Metta World Peace aka Ron Artest. Unfortunately, they were the first to be eliminated, so we didn’t really have a chance to see her in action. This season, however, she’s paired with Green Bay Packer, Donald Driver. And they’re in the semi-finals. I had a short time to speak with the New Zealander because (hello!) she needed to rehearse so they can get themselves in the finals for next week.

Reality Fix: Moment of Goodness from Dancing with the Stars’ Classical Week

As good as this season has been, there was something on last week’s result show that was a real Moment of Goodness. DWTS has been doing segments on people that have had to overcome incredible odds to be a dancer. During Classical Week, they told the story of Richard “Steelo” Vasquez. He has been one of the top street dancers and worked in film and stage. On June 19, 2011, Steelo was suddenly struck with a brain aneurism. He was unable to walk or do any basic functions that all of us take for granted. This man has fought his way back with rehab and help from his family and friends. For the first time since this horrible event happened, he got to dance with his crew on DWTS. Not only was it a miracle, it was inspirational. Everyone chanted his name when he was finished.

It makes you think how life can change at any moment.—Melissa Friedman

Reality Fix: Dancing with the Stars and Motown Week

We are about half way through the season of Dancing with the Stars. What I love about this year is that there isn’t really a front runner and everyone has been pretty good. Even Martina Navratilova, who was booted off the first week, wasn’t that bad. It makes it fair which is a nice switch. But let’s be honest, there is one thing that makes this season full of TV goodness, and his name is William Levy!
