TV Goodness Teaser: Showtime’s Ray Donovan [VIDEO]

The are some folks who I will happily sit through cheesy, trashy projects for, and Stuart Townsend is on that list. I even watch XIII (which runs on Reelz in the States), y’all. While I haven’t seen that show formally cancelled, I have to assume it must be, because Townsend’s ABC pilot, Betrayal, was presented this morning as part of the network’s new lineup, earning the slot right after Revenge on Sundays this fall.

You know how you are watching a TV show that is so good you don’t want it to end? You think that the show is almost over but you look at the clock and there is more time left? That’s how I felt while watching Revenge. There were more than a few things dropped so if you have not watched the finale yet, you might want to stop reading and go watch it now. There are just too many things to discuss.

Well how do you feel after this week’s show? Yeah, me too! Can you believe it? Here’s what we know:

Here at TV Goodness, we like to preview new TV movies, but we make exceptions at Christmas for our favorites and I’m making an exception again because a lot of people discovered Ty Olsson this season on Supernatural, but they might not realize he’s been doing good work for years (yes, he’s another one of my Canadians). One my favorite TV movies from him, 2011’s Iris Johansen’s The Killing Game, is rolling around tomorrow and Monday on Lifetime Movie Network and it’s worth a spot on your DVR.

There are so many things to discuss from Sunday’s episode; I’m not sure where to begin. But aren’t we all glad it was a new episode after weeks of waiting? Yes, the answer is simple. Yes! Here is what we need to discuss:
[Warning: spoilers for tonight’s finale]
The nine-episode season 1 for HISTORY’s Vikings comes to a close tonight.
Right now we’re happy that the hit series will be back for a ten-episode season 2 because we’re not ready to let this show go. Ragnar’s still dealing with life as the new Earl and recently experienced a devastating loss when his wife, Lagertha, miscarried.

Back in the day, ABC Family used to be a reliable source of fun, flirty monthly movies starring your TV favorites (See Jane Date, Lucky Seven, Just a Walk in the Park, This Time Around). They’ve backed off of that business model in recent years, but tonight, they return to the fold with an original film called Lovestruck: The Musical, which sounds like a cross between Mamma Mia, Glee, and Freaky Friday.

[WARNING: SPOILERS FOR VIKINGS EPISODES]
Only two episodes left of HISTORY’s Vikings.
Ragnar has led another successful (and brutal) raid to England where they made off with 2000 pounds in silver and gold. However, there was some damage done. While King Aelle’s troops were obliterated by the Vikings, Ragnar did manage to trick Rollo into becoming a Christian. Floki isn’t letting Rollo forget that their gods might be angry by this act. Who knows what that means for Rollo’s future.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Season 5 begins four and a half months after the end of season 4. Jackie’s back at work after her union sued All Saints, there are two new doctors on staff, and O’Hara is finally back from maternity leave. Zoey still lives with Jackie, Eddie is still fired, and Coop and still Coop.
Since Jackie’s about to have another birthday, she asks Kevin if she can have the girls. She knows it’s not part of their deal but she’s hoping he’ll make an exception this one time. Somehow I expected their relationship to be a little less hostile, but I can understand why it isn’t. Jackie deserves all the hurt and anger and attitude he’s throwing her way. But because I’m rooting for Jackie and hoping she can maintain her sobriety, I’m on her side in this fight. I know it’s not his job to take care of her (or really care about her at all anymore), but I hope at least part of him can see that she’s trying.
